Sitting quietly

at the cottage

clock ticking

fridge humming

no other sounds --

a cup of coffee beside me,

calm lake

all is still.

I just want to bottle this up --

take this all in --

hold this in my heart --

for those busy days,

those anxious times,

when I'm feeling fretful,

ungrounded,

anxious,

far from calm

or quiet

or peaceful

or zen
